There is nothing much to see here.
Yes, it is the office for the Bangkok governor and its administrative staff. Nothing sounds like a tourist place.
But…
Bangkok City Hall is located in a great neighborhood to hang out with your friends as there are plenty of nice restaurants and many interesting places within walkable distances for you to visit.
If you want to experience the old town vibe, visit multiple temples or prefer a cafe hopping activity, start planning your trip from Bangkok City Hall is what I recommend.
Start Your Journey at Lan Khon Mueang: A Massive Public Plaza At The Heart Of Bangkok Old Town
At the front of Bangkok City Hall, there is a huge plaza where you can easily notice and it is a great place to meet up and start your trip from here.
This huge plaza regularly hosts public events such as Songkran festival, flea markets with many nice food vendors, free concerts or New Year’s events. If you visit this place during the festival time, then you will definitely experience the local city event.
I found one highlight which is always there and you must take a photo with; the sign displaying the full name of Bangkok.
In case you do not know, Bangkok is the city which has the longest name in the world with 168 letters in Thai.
For Thai people like me, we call Bangkok “Krung Thep” which is the short version of the full name. It basically means “the city of angels”.
Parking Lot for Public
If you are driving, here is a great place to park your car and start exploring the area.
There is a massive underground parking lot under this huge plaza which can accommodate around 500 cars. You can drive and park here with some parking fee applied.
The public is allowed to park here on weekends, but for weekdays the operating hours are limited as it is reserved for the staff of the office. Be careful with your plan if you want to drive here! Check the Opening Hours section below for the parking time during the weekday.

Lan Khon Mueang is a public space which is open 24/7.
Underground parking space for public is open following the schedule:
- Monday to Friday: from 18:00 until 6:00 of the next day
- Saturday to Sunday: 24 hours
Entrance Fee
There is no entrance fee to Lan Khon Mueang.
Underground parking space for public cost follows:
- 15 Minutes: free (for drop off or changing your mind)
- From the 1st hour until 5th hour: 20 Baht per hour
- From the 6th hour onwards: 30 Baht per hour
